Mauritius, africa.
August – september – october
Time to sum up my first month on the island and write a little about this long journey.
First of all, I got sick. Secondly, the parties threw me off track. Thirdly, the weather got worse.
What am I thinking about? Only about the absolutely terrible condition of my nails. I’ve already started taking vitamins. Every single nail is splitting, so I can’t even get a proper manicure.
The good thing: my cousin Daria is here. And we’ve been spending time together.
I started going to the gym. I’ve already had three Pilates sessions. I can feel my energy coming back, and I feel better. My body feels a little more alive. I’m still not at my ideal weight.
My birthday is coming soon, so I’m going to throw a party. I’ll wear my pink dress, probably get my hair done and buy a really cool cake. It’s going to be fun.
Now, about what happened.
Daria arrived. We went to the beach. It was a little cold because of the weather, but still… the ocean.
A storm started. Bad weather, rain and very strong wind. So we couldn’t really swim or get much sun. We just hung out in little cafés.
We also went to a shopping centre, where I bought some Korean cosmetics.
I was looking for somewhere to get my film developed and digitized. There’s nowhere to do it on the island. I’ll have to wait until France.
The weather was bad almost the entire time Dasha was here… So unlucky. She didn’t even get to swim in the ocean.
And then we had a little fight because I didn’t photograph her with the lions.
I’m not going to write too much about it, but Dasha was offended that I didn’t take photos of her… That’s Dasha and her passive aggression.
And I was simply sitting there, enjoying the lionesses, and I didn’t want to jump up just to take photos of her.
I could have done it later, but Dasha was already offended and started answering me in a mean way.
That’s how it always is with us
Actually, I think a lot of people have strange relationships with their cousins.
I need to start preparing for my birthday now. I want to make the invitations in Photoshop. Maybe I’ll print them, or maybe I’ll just send them online.
Casela Safari Park.
A really cool park. We didn’t see everything.
I saw one small giraffe, a herd of zebras, antelopes, two rhinos in the distance, lots of birds, peacocks, white tigers and lions.
So many animals.
…
Dasha flew back to Russia, and on the very same day, our friends from France arrived: François and Lucille.
Lucille drinks beer and reads all the time, while François… well, he’s a fitness trainer. He swims, runs, plays football. He never misses an opportunity to do some kind of sport!
I started a gym programme for my glutes, three times a week.
Of course, looking back now, I realize that a whole month has already passed and I haven’t actually been working out that often.
But I promised myself not to devalue what I’m doing, so here it is: three Pilates sessions, two ten-minute runs, one swimming session and one first workout from my programme.
After every gym session, my muscles hurt a lot the next day, so I consider that a good sign that I’m actually training properly.
So far, my favourite exercises are the hip thrust and leg press.
That’s it. I have nothing more to say about this subject.
Next, the salon story.
I went for a Deluxe manicure, the kind where they massage your hands, put on a hand mask and do all that nice stuff.
I didn’t go alone, of course. I went with my little husband, as always. He waited for me and worked on his laptop.
And now comes the least normal story in this whole diary.
I gave my wedding ring to my husband so he could look after it while I was getting my manicure.
And… he put it on a little table and completely forgot about it because he wasn’t feeling very well.
Then he decided to move to another seat.
And the seat where he had been sitting, where my ring was lying, was taken by another man who was waiting for a woman.
And then… he saw the ring, thought it was his woman’s ring and put it into her handbag!!!
We found out what happened later by looking at the security cameras.
Luckily, the owner of the salon was there. She immediately called the woman.
The woman came back and returned the ring!
So, in the end, it was just an accident and a misunderstanding, not a theft.
But I was so nervous.
At least my nails are perfect now.
Despite this whole situation, I’m going back to this salon to get my hair done before my birthday
We decided to celebrate it on September 17th, and I’m already getting everything ready.
I bought some really cool lights for the terrace. Not Christmas lights, but solar-powered ones.
I bought fabric for the table and ordered a big carrot cake.
I’m doing the decoration in an autumn style.
I think that’s exactly what is missing here in the tropics: autumn.
But I hope it will be a cool and peaceful party.
It’s actually so nice to celebrate your birthday in a huge villa.
We’ll drink wine and eat something with truffles.
And I’ll be the centre of the evening.
I’m going to decorate the table with flowers and candles.
It’s going to be incredibly beautiful.
A huge thank you to my husband for supporting my ideas and paying for everything everywhere.
Tomorrow we’re going on a boat trip. We’re going to sail to some other little island.
Bye for now!
