Nice-Paris-Mauritius

The first roll of film is finished. I really want to see what I’ve done with it, of course. I was shooting throughout the day during the eclipse in France. It was so beautiful, a real eclipse. I had 22 shots.

We were on the terrace of a vintage apartment on the top floor, right by the Mediterranean, watching the eclipse through special glasses. I was photographing the people who were there, (parents and one friend), and my husband was photographing me too. I love the fact that the photos will be black and white + the eclipse, like something sacred and even a little sexual.

And the next day we flew to an island on the African continent. How romantic! The flight was fine! But after 12 hours from Paris to Mauritius, I couldn’t sleep at all, despite taking a sleeping pill. There were way too many screaming children.

At least I had a nice €300 shopping spree at the duty-free in Paris. I bought shampoo, cosmetics, face wash and perfume.

And when I arrived, I was so exhausted that I literally passed out. The hour-long car ride was particularly difficult, because my father-in-law drives, to put it mildly, fucking terrifyingly. I was wearing my seatbelt, but I was still being thrown around and shaken up pretty badly, and some of the roads on the island are even worse than what I remember from Russia.

Then I slept for three hours, but still felt awful afterwards and couldn’t fall asleep. And the next evening we went to a party, and for some reason I decided to have some vodka for the first time in several years. It was fine, but the next morning I discovered that my throat felt like it had been burned from the inside and I felt like I had the flu. And I still feel sick to this day.

But the people here are so different and attractive, and I really like that. I met two absolutely beautiful girls from Casablanca. We’re supposed to meet again sometime soon. We just need to figure out how and where.

A little story about travelling two hours into the future.

Thank you for attention, wait my island’s stories!

bye-bye!
